Industrial, Commercial and Public Sector Roofing Systems
Single Ply roofing membranes are now becoming increasingly popular in UK construction, for both new buildings and refurbishment Flat Roof projects. Single Ply comes in a variety of forms, ranging from EPDM and Polyvinyl (PVC) to Thermoplastic (TPO). EPDM roofing membrane is commonly the most cost-effective option.
Single Ply has many benefits:
Whether you’re opting for a patch repair or a full flat roof re-cover, spotting signs of damage early and taking immediate action ensures that you minimise your costs and maintain a fully functioning water-tight roof. |
Composite panels consist of three layers:
Composite roofing is probably the most commonly selected roofing and cladding materials for warehouses. Benefits of using composite roofing

A flexible, diverse and cheaper alternative to composite panelling is a Twin Skin or Built-up roof system of cladding.
The built up system (also known as twin skin cladding) is installed in a similar way to the composite system using a liner sheet base, insulating core and aluminium or coated steel top sheets to finish. This system has been used since the 1970s and is mostly used in factories/warehouses. With current air tightness requirements, we pay very close attention to perimeter detailing to make sure a good quality vapour/air seal is created. The liner sheets in particular have a number of benefits for the average industrial and commercial building owner and are just one individual roof component used in this system that can be adapted to your specific requirements.

One of the more contemporary options for industrial and commercial buildings is Standing Seam Roofing. It's a popular choice for many large retail units and centrally located builds looking for a statement look.
Unlike composite panelling and twin skin systems the standing seam uses continuous lengths of sheeting, which are craned in at roof level to create a unbroken finish. The void is insulated before the weather or top sheet is fixed above. The top sheet is often aluminium giving the roof a metallic & modern appearance. This can be specified in steel which can prove to be more cost effective in the long run. |
Single Skin Sheeting is commonly used in warehouses and agricultural buildings. It may be used as a stand alone directly onto purlins, but single skin sheeting can also be used in overcladding and built up systems applied to a bar and bracket system.
The steel sheeting is available in plastisol coating and usually comes with a 20 year guarantee. There are numerous profiles and colours available which is always useful when doing patch repairs where we can match to existing roof sheet profiles. |
As an alternative to the replacement of your roofing, Overcladding can offer an economical and practical alternative.
