REFURBISHMENTS & REPAIRS

Roofing & Cladding Specialists for the Industrial, Commercial & Public Sector  |  Wales & West England
CONTACT US TODAY
Our experienced and qualified operatives are fully trained to identify all problem areas on any type of roofing or cladding system. No matter the condition, age or type of roof we will recommend the most appropriate, efficient and cost-effective course of action and solution to your roofing problem.
Below are examples of some of the roof and cladding repair and refurbishment works CLAY CONSTRUCT carry out on industrial and commercial buildings.
Strip & Resheet - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
The average steel roof has a lifespan of 20 years if properly maintained. If neglected, over time roofs can degrade, fixings can corrode or become loose and the sheets can be damaged or worse case blown off due to extreme weather conditions.
We can upgrade any problem areas or undertake a full
Strip and Resheet.
We replace with the most appropriate and cost effective solution for your current roof
structure which will perform more efficiently and be far more easier to maintain.
During a strip and resheet we can also install rooflights to increase natural light into the building which in turn helps reduces your energy costs.

Overcladding - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
Overcladding can be a far more practical and cost-effective alternative to simply replacing a whole roof. Some of the key benefits include :
  • Zero disruption and impact on daily operations
  • Zero risk to stock damage from an exposed roof
  • Encapsulation of asbestos cement sheeting
  • Makes the building look clean and brand new
  • Can incorporate coloured sheeting to match your company colours or branding
  • Improves thermal performance of the building (when adding insulation) and reduces energy costs
  • Cheaper than a strip and resheet
Treatment of Leaks - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
Over time most roofs will experience leaks. Most of the time this is due to neglect and lack of roof and gutter maintenance. Other times it can be due to poor repair work, loose or damaged fixings/flashings or a result of extreme weather conditions.
It's important to note that most leaks are avoidable if your roof is regularly inspected and maintained.
If you have not had your roof inspected for a while w
e offer a fully independent and professional roof survey which comprises of a full defects report and recommendations on the most appropriate, efficient and cost-effective programme of treatment, care and repair for your roof.
Waterproofing - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
We install waterproof coatings to any surface and can tailor our work to any required surface/surfaces.
We offer spray or hand-applied coatings which can have a silicone, water or polyurethane base to coat the sealing of the laps or coating rejuvenation on metal and painted surfaces.
These coatings are most commonly used on flat roofs, metal roofs and gutters. Ideal for roof detail with difficult seals or high amount of plant penetration our liquid coating is fairly quick to install and comes in a range of colours to match your requirements.

We can apply coating to Bitumen, Concrete, Asphalt, E.P.D.M, Roofing Felt, Plastisol coated metal and Asbestos. These coatings carry the EU Certification and can carry an insurance backed warranty for up to 20 years.

Corrosion and Edge Lap Treatment - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
It's important to regularly inspect and maintain cladding and roof panelling.
Cladding sheets are coated when manufactured to protect them from the elements. If these sheets are cut to size the edges often may not have been re-coated. If neglected, over time the edges of the cladding sheets will rust which leads to health and safety issues, leaks and even security risks. Ultimately these cladding panels will need to be replaced which can be costly. It's paramount that you undertake
Edge Lap Treatment. CLAY CONSTRUCT offer on-site corrosion treatment systems where we mechanically remove the corrosion and re-coat all the damaged edge laps with a new watertight and anti-corrosive coating.
Insulation - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
If your building is suffering from high energy bills and fluctuating temperatures during the seasons we would recommend you get your roof insulated.
Insulating your roof helps you to reduce heat gain in the summer whilst retaining heat in the winter months - this helps reduce your energy bills and create a happy and more productive working environment.
We can recommend an insulation solution to suit your current roofing system:
  • Asbestos Roof Overclad System
  • Twin-skin Steel Insulated Roof System
  • Insulated Composite Panel Roofing System
Replacing Rooflights - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
CLAY CONSTRUCT can provide better light transmission and working environments via fitting of:
  • corrugated clear roof panels
  • triple glazed polycarbonate dome and barrel vault
  • sun pipes
  • bespoke glass and glazed units
By increasing natural light into your building by replacing your discoloured or damaged rooflights this will help:
  • Create a safer working environment
  • Create a more productive working environment
  • Save  you money on your energy bills
Weather and UV damage can quickly degrade the skylight’s protective layers, rendering it brittle and unsafe. Discoloured skylights can blend in with the roof, making them effectively invisible, thus becoming a safety hazard for anyone that goes on the roof. One fifth of accidents from working at height are a result of falls through skylights.
Replacing rooflights also can give you the opportunity to incorporate opening lights for ventilation and roof access.
Whatever rooflight system you have in place our team of experienced and  fully qualified operatives will find the most appropriate, efficient and cost-effective lighting solution.

Fixings and Flashing - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
It is essential during any maintenance works to check the condition of the visible fixings and flashing. When exposed to the elements over time fixings can corrode and can also, due to expansion and contraction, create issues in the sheets they are being used to fix. We can offer to check, re-tight and replace, where necessary, any visible problems before any major leaks or damage to sheeting occurs.
The main purpose of flashing is to keep water away from building materials that can be damaged by moisture. Flashing is another area that needs regular inspection and maintenance. It can sometimes be
  • omitted or incorrectly installed - Built-up roofs (BUR) generally experience leaks due to flashing details that weren’t fastened properly during installation - anywhere the membrane itself is terminated or interrupted.
  • damaged or corroded through weathering
  • missing (due to blow off damage).
Guttering and Pipes - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
Common faults from neglecting gutters and pipes include
  • Blocked outlets
  • Blocked downpipes
  • Corrosion that leads to holes
  • Weak or loose joints
  • Leaks in roof, flue collars and skylights
Neglecting gutters usually results in unseen leaks materialising that over time can cause guttering and sheet corrosion, structural damage and even damage stock, stop operations and cause employee accidents. This can result in very costly repairs work.

We can provide gutter renewal in PVC, colour coated steel or galvanised steel. We also specialise in gutter lining.

It's important to check that the guttering and pipe system you have in place is still fit for purpose. Older buildings usually have insufficient outlet capacity to cope with today's adverse weather conditions plus downpipes may be blocked with debris.
High Winds and Storm Damage - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
In recent years we have seen more cases of Summer Storms, Flash Flooding and High Winds occur that can cause severe damage to your industrial or commercial roof due to:
  • Falling trees / debris
  • Water accumulation
  • Loss of roof material ("blow off")
  • Damage to drainage systems
To help reduce the risks we can take the following action:
  • Clear out debris from gutters and drains
  • Check skylights and domes for cracks and other damage
  • Remove or heavily secure any equipment or loose materials on your roof
  • Emergency Repair or Replace Service
Rectify Bad Workmanship - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
One of the issues we come across quite frequently is where a previous contractor has attempted to repair a job but it has been performed incorrectly.
Unfortunately this can result in further damage to the roof surface and structure and result in more expensive repair costs or the need for a full roof replacement.
If you have recently had repair work but feel you are still experiencing issues with your roof or if you are noticing your energy bills are increasing/fluctuating then it could be a good time to call us in for a roof survey. We will
  • Check for any corrosion or water damage
  • Check all visible fixings and flashing
  • Clear the Guttering and check the flow
  • Undergo any minor repairs
Flat Roofs - Industrial Roofing & Cladding - CLAY CONSTRUCT, Wales and West England
Regardless of the fabric, most industrial and commercial flat roofs are affected by extreme weather conditions and over time will begin to deteriorate and leak. Most leaks aren't visible and if left untreated can cause irreversible damage.

A lot of expensive flat roof repair work could be avoided through regular roof inspection and maintenance. We can help increase the life-span of your flat roof by
  • Using a high-quality roof coating system to manage the effects of damaging heat and UV rays
  • Checking you have the appropriate drainage, clear gutters and right roof gradient to avoid water ponding
  • Carry out Third Party Electrical Integrity Tests
